Relocating to Carlsbad

This is where we will tell you all the great things about the great North County Coastal city of Carlsbad!

Carlsbad housing has been steadily increasing in value over the past few years. Buying a home in Carlsbad can be a great investment, but is fairly pricey, even compared to some other California cities.

Living in Carlsbad

Carlsbad has experienced explosive growth since it was first incorporated in 1952. A large number of its current residents are young families with children under the age of 18. The local area promotes a family-friendly lifestyle with its close-knit communities.

Living in Carlsbad offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes. In Carlsbad, there are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many families live in Carlsbad and residents tend to lean conservative. The public schools in Carlsbad are highly rated.

Schools in Carlsbad

Carlsbad has four different school districts: Carlsbad, Encinitas, San Dieguito, and San Marcos. The Carlsbad Unified School District covers most of the northern areas, while the other three districts serve the southern part of the city. The area is home to great elementary schools, as well as the highly ranked Canyon Crest Academy high school.

With an increasing population, there have been several new schools constructed over the last few years. Each one has been designed with integrated technological classrooms, making it easier for students to learn from the district’s strong curriculum.

Cost of Living in Carlsbad

The cost of living index in Carlsbad is higher than the national average, which can mainly be attributed to the high housing costs. Beyond housing, the cost of living in Carlsbad with things like groceries, healthcare, and utilities are close to and even below the US average. Transportation is more expensive due to things like long commutes, emission laws, and gasoline requirements.

Things To Do & Places to Eat

This quaint city has beautiful sandy beaches, three unique lagoons, outstanding shopping, and world-class sporting events. It is also home to the Legoland theme park with rides, shows, and attractions, and the Flower Fields of Carlsbad Ranch. Home to many world-renowned golf equipment manufacturers, Carlsbad also features the storied La Costa golf courses with their long list of legendary tournaments and players.

There are many dining options at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa which include Bob’s Steak & Chop House and VUE. Both offer fresh-from-the-farm ingredients and seasonally inspired menus, plus indoor and outdoor seating.

When it comes to Carlsbad weather, the temperatures only vary slightly from season to season. Summers peak at temps between the mid-60s and upper 70s, while winters cool down slightly between the mid-40s to the mid-60s. If living at the coast floats your boat, Carlsbad offers coastal living that’s top of the heap. The beaches are spectacular.
