About Encinitas

This is where we will tell you all the great things about the great North County Coastal city of Encinitas!

Encinitas Real Estate

Encinitas real estate is similar to other beach areas in San Diego, Many homes get multiple offers, some with waived contingencies. The average home sells above the listing price and most go pending in around 8 days.

Living in Encinitas

Encinitas residents love the outdoors. The numerous beaches provide a paradise for runners, swimmers, and, of course, surfers. Nearly everyone living in Encinitas has completed high school. Much of the Encinitas population has an Associate’s Degree and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree.

Schools in Encinitas

People living in Encinitas are generally very well educated, and their focus on education begins early. There are a total of 63 schools in Encinitas, including 12 public district schools and 51 private institutions. La Costa Canyon High School and San Dieguito High Academy, the two main public schools in Encinitas, are highly rated.

Cost of Living in Encinitas

The City of Encinitas is definitely an affluent area, so the cost of living in Encinitas is relatively high.  With expensive houses comes high property taxes. The cost of living in Encinitas is also high in other areas. Transportation in Encinitas costs more than the national average. This is mostly due to gas prices that are higher than in other parts of the US. Remember, most families living in Encinitas own 2 cars, and the average commute time is over 20 minutes, so between gas and vehicle upkeep costs, the price of transportation can go up quickly. Healthcare, groceries, and utilities all also cost more than the national average, though they are pretty comparable to the rest of California.

Things To Do

The beaches are the reason visitors and locals alike are drawn to Encinitas. If you are interested in plants and flowers, the San Diego Botanic Garden is a must-see in Encinitas. It’s one of my picks for the best outdoor activities in San Diego. Other areas focus on cacti, bamboo, herbs, subtropical fruit, and there’s even a tropical rainforest with a waterfall. Another beautiful but much smaller garden in Encinitas is the meditation garden at the Self-Realization Fellowship Encinitas Temple. It’s designed to provide a peaceful place to meditate, but it’s become increasingly popular so this would be a challenge at peak times.
A favorite of locals and in-the-know visitors, Moonlight Beach is a California state park located in Encinitas, a popular beach city in the North County region on San Diego. The site of an annual surf competition, Moonlight is a magnet for wave-seekers as well as sunbathers drawn to its extra amenities, which include volleyball courts, bonfire pits, and a children’s park.
There is no argument that living in Encinitas provides a home with endless happiness. Life in Encinitas comes in the form of exhilarating sunny days and the occasional overdose of fresh ocean air.
